Laatste nieuws over Ebola Bundibugyo virus.
1 persoon (uit DRC) overleden en 8 personen worden behandeld.
Ook GoAfrica.nl heeft klanten naar Oeganda, best een aantal, we stonden immers op de reisbeurs begin dit jaar met onze agent uit Oeganda. Dat bezoekers één op één met onze collega’s uit de betreffende landen kunnen spreken, werkt altijd fantastisch.
Wij werken al 10 jaar met hetzelfde bedrijf samen. En dit is niet de eerste keer dat er een Ebola uitbraak is. De uitbraak is begonnen in de DRC. Sinds 1976 is het de 4e keer dat een uitbraak begint in de DRC, Democratic Republic Congo. Zelfs de naam ” Ebola” komt hier vandaan, het is een rivier in DRC, het voormalige Zaïre.
Vandaag vroeg ik aan onze agent opnieuw een update:

Thanks for the mail and for your concern
In Uganda, surprisingly the Ebola news is talked about more on the international news but its not mentioned on our local news. The situation is really calm and most Ugandans are wondering where the international news are getting all the information.
As Ugandans, we just heard that there were some Congolese that came for treatments from Congo to one of the hospitals in Uganda. That one of them died and the other was taken back to Congo. In Uganda life is going on as usual and its less talked about though our government has taken necessary precautions.
Movements from Congo are restricted and the border is closed. There is lots of screenings carried out in public places, hospitals etc. And they no longer allow the Congolese to enter Uganda. Uganda is one of the countries that can handle and control Ebola.
For all our National parks and tourism sites, they are all safe and there isn’t any Ebola Outbreak in those areas.
We have clients on tour and how we are protecting our clients is that we don’t allow them to get in direct contact with the local people, they are having a private tour, we make sure that they sanitise all the time and most of the lodges are taking the necessary precautions.
We shall keep you updated incase of any Ebola news!”

🔬 Verschillende typen ebolavirus
Bundibugyo ebolavirus: Voor het eerst geïdentificeerd in Oeganda in 2007. Deze stam heeft een lager sterftecijfer (ongeveer 30-50%).
“Kan ik Ebola oplopen tijdens mijn verblijf in Oeganda? “
Deze kans is ontzettend klein.
Ebola wordt overgedragen via direct contact met lichaamsvloeistoffen van een besmet persoon of dier.
Dit kan ook via instrumenten of gebruiksvoorwerpen.
Een persoon is pas besmettelijk als er symptomen zijn.
Ebola kan niet door de lucht worden overgedragen.
